VIDEO GAMES: Amurica!

So the reveal poster for Assassins Creed III came out a little over a week ago and showed us the fight would be coming to America. Well the first official reveal trailer has been released for the game and we're heading to the American Revolutionary War! Seriously I've never gotten into the AC series but this trailer is so awesome and the thought of attacking Brits with a hatchet and musket is almost too awesome to pass up. It looks like this entry in the AC series may be taking place on a larger scale than past entries in the series and we'll have to see if that improves or hinders the experience. So check out the trailer now! Oh and also, today Ubisoft confirmed that AC3 will be finding its way onto the Wii U. The game's release date is October 30th and I can't really see the Wii U coming out much earlier than that, so it's possible that this could be a launch title for Nintendo's new system. I must say the idea of playing Assassins Creed with a clear HUD since all the menu options are on the controller screen could be an immersive experience.

MOVIES: What is my most anticipated movie this year?

I have no freaking idea! Everytime I see a trailer for Brave, The Hobbit, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider Man or The Avengers, that movie becomes my most anticipated of 2012! Suffice to say, a new Avengers trailer has hit Apple Trailers this morning and I'm seriously speechless by how incredible it is. Like I literally don't know if my brain can process all the awesomeness that exists in this trailer. Stop reading this and watch the damn thing...now!

VIDEO GAMES: Holy Balls

You may remember on Valentine's Day I posted the Mass Effect 3 teaser for the "Take Earth Back" trailer that was supposed to come soon. Well today it has arrived. It is nothing short of glorious and if anyone was on the fence about getting the game, I don't think they are anymore. There's not much more I need to say. Watch it. The game hits shelves on March 6th!

MOVIES: The Prestige Rises

Well with the imminent release of The Dark Knight Rises, there's no doubt that we're going to receive a flurry of trailer "mash-ups" for the movie. Most of them will be stupid, poorly edited, and a waste of our time. But some...some will be brilliant. Dominaz3000 has used Michael Caine's speech from The Prestige regarding the three acts of a magic trick and applied it to the three films of the Nolan Batman saga. The result is probably the best mash up trailer I've ever seen. This honestly gave me chills as the dialogue worked so brilliantly to describe the Batman trilogy. Check this out and revel in the awesomeness of nerds.

VIDEO GAMES: The battle for Earth begins.

A new trailer has come online for Mass Effect 3 and although it's short, just a preview of a full trailer coming this week, it's still awesome. Unfortunately I've tried multiple times now to get into the Mass Effect series and for some reason the games just aren't sticking for me. I can see why they're so successful and popular but I can't quite get engrossed in this universe (trust me, I really wish I could). Mass Effect 3 is most peoples' most anticipated game of 2012 and I hope it gives all the fans what they want. So check out this trailer teaser!

MOVIES: Whelp, here's another movie to get excited about!

So the trailer for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World has gone online. It stars Steve Carell and Keira Knightley as humanity is told of an imminent meteor strike that will end the world in a few short weeks. As everyone tries to live out everything they ever wanted to do before they died, Knightley sets out to help Carell track down his long lost high school sweetheart.  The trailer looks absolutely fantastic with a definite comedic setting but the underlying threat of doom doing the job of letting the characters develop. If the movie can live up to the strong premise and tone set by this trailer, we may have a real treat on our hands.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World hits theaters June 22nd!

MOVIES: Fasten your freakin' seatbelts!

Holy crap. It's been awhile since I watched the original Bourne trilogy and this trailer for the upcoming Bourne Legacy reminded me how badassly badass they are. This one seems to be no exception. With Jeremy Renner taking the helm as the new Bourne, I'm excited to see how they give life to the franchise as it seems they want to turn it into a Bond type story. This trailer, oh man this trailer is glorious. It starts out giving a little background on the story and then makes damn sure everyone knows Jeremy Renner can kick ass just as hard as the rest of them. Until now this one has stayed a little below my radar but it's clear this is another movie ticket I'll be purchasing this year. What about you?

MOVIES: Best part of the Superbowl!

Well the trailer for The Avengers just aired and it was freakin' awesome! Marvel posted an extended edition of the trailer on their Facebook page which you can "Like" by clicking HERE! I'll try to embed the video on here but I'm pretty sure you have to be a fan on their page for it to work. I'm now terribly excited for May 4th!!!

MOVIES: May the odds be ever in your trailer!

Oh man see what I did there?!? It was a pun on the phrase "may the odds be ever in your favor" from The Hunger Games! Because this post is about the new Hunger Games trailer that came out today! But seriously, I'm still skeptical about this movie because the book was so stinkin' great. Although this is definitely the best trailer yet, I just can't shake the feeling that the movie may end up a terrible misfire. I really do hope they can somehow do the books justice, but we shall see.

MOVIES: Holy Lord we're effed!

The first trailer for Prometheus has been released today and it's pretty intense! For those of you who don't know, Prometheus is director Ridley Scott's return to sci-fi and apparently horror. It follows a team of scientists who get stranded on a planet when they go looking for something connected to humanities origins. The trailer shows a decent amount of footage, although most of the shots are split second images of someone's face being eaten or a girl doing a push up. But it looks absolutely fantastic so far. There's no doubt that Scott knows what he's doing as he's the man responsible for Alien, one of the most influential sci-fi horror movies of all time. Although Scott has said Prometheus does not directly relate to Alien, he has admitted there are some ties between the two. This trailer also has a VERY Alien feel so I think we may come to discover that they're more closely related than Scott initially admitted. So check out the trailer now!

MOVIES: Our journey begins.

At long last the first trailer for The Hobbit has been released and I am at a loss for words! I don't think I've ever wanted a time travel device so badly in all my life! It's incredible how Peter Jackson can literally instantaneously bring us back to the world of Middle Earth. I'm amazed at how much this trailer actually showed us, usually when a trailer comes out this far in advance there's 30 seconds of footage at most but this is a full fledged two and a half minute trailer! So watch it over and over and over and over again!

MOVIES: Batman is so screwed.

Well the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has hit the internet today. Is there really anything else I need to say to get you to watch it? Bask in the glory now.

MOVIES: Three movies you NEED to see this week!

But not for the movies themselves. In the next week alone there are three movies coming out, 2 which came out today, that have trailers before them that will be worth the price of admission. So here they are.

1. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (In select IMAX theaters)
Why?: This one is number one on my list because not only will you get to see Mission Impossible which currently sits at a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, but because you'll get to see a six freaking minute long prologue to The Dark Knight Rises. From what I've heard so far the prologue is pretty sweet but apparently it's almost impossible to understand what Bane is saying with the combination of his heavy accent and Darth Vader mask. At least it's still Batman stuff. But here's the catch, the prologue is only showing in IMAX theaters and not even in all IMAX theaters. Click HERE to see a list of all the theaters where you can catch the prologue!

2. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Why? This one is a little less important and maybe not quite as worth it as the first one. Sherlock doesn't interest me too much and the movie is getting decent reviews so far, but apparently there's a trailer for The Dark Knight Rises beforehand. I haven't heard any news about the trailer since everyone is talking about the prologue before MI. It still might be worth checking out if you want to see it on the big screen, but expect it on Youtube very soon anyways.

3. The Adventures of Tintin
Why? Well firstly because for some reason this movie has managed to peak my interest over the past couple of weeks. The action looks fun and early reviews peg it as a lighthearted, Indiana Jones type adventure. The story of Tintin is apparently insanely popular over in Europe and it's somewhat of a passion project for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. But the real reason to see it? Our first trailer for The Hobbit will be showing before Tintin!!! YES! After years of development, directors jumping in and dropping out, countless do-overs on the script and a billion other problems, The Hobbit is finally happening! As excited as I am for The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and much more that comes out next year, nothing has me tingling with exitement quite like The Hobbit. It's one of my favorite books of all time and I just can't wait to get lost in Middle Earth once more. Now it's likely that this trailer won't show much of anything but just to see a Hobbit walking around on the big screen again will make me scream like a little girl who just touched Tyler Latner. So yes, I am going to see Tintin and I suggest you do the same!

VGA: As good as video game awards shows get?

So last night the VGAs took place on Spike TV and yes they were corny, not too funny and drawn out at points; but hey, what do you really expect from a video game awards show? Personally I thought they did a decent job making it interesting throughout and what we all really watched for was the previews of what's to come in the next year or so. And boy were there some awesome looks not just at what great games we got to play this year, but what will make 2012 a potentially greater year than 2011 in the world of gaming. So here's some of the sweetest videos and reveals from last night in no particular order!

1. Arkham World Revealed?
While accepting his award for best character last night, it seems that The Joker may have revealed the title of the next entry in the Batman games by Rocksteady. He held up a pamphlet titled "Batman: Arkham World Script" and slyly smiled while stating..."spoiler alert." It was pretty awesome even though this is next to no information on the next game.

2. Fortnite Premier Trailer
Last night Epic revealed a new game they've been working on titled Fortnite. The video doesn't show any gameplay but to me it looks like it will be something where you spend the day trying to strengthen your fort so you can survive when the satisfyingly creepy dark creatures come at night. The graphics look similar to the Team Fortress games and it will run on the unreal engine. I like the graphics and am interested to hear more about the game.

3. Mass Effect 3 Gameplay Trailer
Right after it was announced as the winner for Most Anticipated Game of 2012, a trailer was shown for Mass Effect 3. It showed a mixture of gameplay and cut-scenes as Commander Shephard battles his way through chaos in order to get to a massive foe. The video looked pretty sweet but I haven't had time to get into the Mass Effect games so I probably wasn't as excited as I should have been.

4. The Last of Us Premier
So for a few weeks now everyone has been speculating as to what the new PS3 exclusive by Naughty Dog, titled The Last of Us would be about. Speculation ranged from another zombie apocalypse to a world taken over by people infected from a plant fungus. Well it looks like it may have settled somewhere in the middle as this gorgeous trailer shows us what I assume is a father and daughter who fight to survive in a city overrun by morbid creatures. Whether the monsters are aliens, infected people or something else still remains to be seen but it looks like The Last of Us will try to build more of a story and characters we care about than other similar titles. I think this trailer was the highlight of the show for me and I really wish I had a PS3 now.

5. Command and Conquer: Generals 2 Revealed
There was a ton of speculation as to what the mystery project by Bioware would be and I think a lot of people were disappointed when it turned out it was a new Command and Conquer game. I don't know much about the series but I think it's more of a strategy game like Starcraft or Age of Empires. It looks like C&C will be a PC exclusive and it comes out in 2013. It will also run on the Frostbite 2 engine that's currently running Battlefield 3 so expect the game to look absolutely gorgeous.

6. Bioshock Infinite Trailer
I'm already excited out of my mind for Bioshock Infinite. The first game is one of my favorites of all time and I've been pumped for Infinite ever since it was first announced. Last night they showed a new trailer for the game and although it doesn't reveal anything we didn't already know it's still incredibly awesome. So watch it!

7. Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance?
That's the title? I don't know. This was the last video of the night and I think the show's producers planned to go out with a bang but instead ended the night with a big...wtf? It doesn't look like a MGS game and the trailer was lackluster at best. But who knows, maybe it will turn out to be cool?

8. Diablo III Intro Cinematic
Dear Lord Diablo III is going to be amazing. I've played the beta and I promise you the game is gorgeous and addicting. The opening cinematic for the game was revealed last night and it's nothing short of what we've come to expect from Blizzard. If you haven't watched it, just do it. If you have watched it, then watch it again.

9. Alan Wake: American Nightmare Reveal
So the new Alan Wake game is titled Alan Wake: American Nightmare. For those of you who don't know about the games, they follow a writer named Alan Wake who uses light to fend of dark foes from the realized world of dark fiction. I've only played the first one for a short time but it was pretty sweet so I'm kind of looking forward to American Nightmare. The Wake games provide an interesting change of pace from most games and they have a huge emphasis on storytelling which is awesome.

10. Rainbow Six: Patriots Trailer
Dang. The trailer for Rainbow Six: Patriots was nothing short of intense. I don't really even know what to say about it other than, it has my interest now. I haven't played any of the Rainbow Six games but it looks like they're really trying to make a statement with this one. The only question that remains is if they can correctly walk the line between controversial and just plain wrong. Time will tell.

So that's all the major reveals and first looks that we saw at the VGAs. Maybe seeing all this awesome stuff in one place will help people realize that the show really wasn't that bad! Needless to say next year is shaping up nicely!

MOVIES: Even more reason to see the new Sherlock Holmes!

As you may recall, I posted the other week that a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises will air before the new Sherlock Holmes movie when it hits theaters on December 16th. Well apparently we may get another trailer for a highly anticipated movie of 2012. Jeff Sneider, a reporter for Variety posted on his twitter that a trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set to screen before Sherlock Holmes 2. I will now definitely be seeing the new Sherlock movie but I honestly don't really care about the film itself. I might just walk out after the credits...we'll see.

MOVIES: Oh man...this is gunna be epic.

Hot on the heels of yesterday's screenshots, today Pixar has released the newest trailer for BRAVE! In short...it looks incredible. This trailer reveals much more of the story than the previous trailer and introduces us to some new characters as well. Needless to say it gets me even more excited for the movie if that was even possible. BRAVE hits theaters June 22, 2012!!!

MOVIES: Our first good look at The Hunger Games.

Although this isn't officially the first trailer for The Hunger Games it's definitely the first trailer that shows more than Katniss running through the forest from some fire. It gives us glimpses of the characters actually delivering lines and shows us some of the aspects we were most curious about such as what the Capitol would look like. Although this trailer doesn't do anything to make me less excited for the movie for some reason it doesn't really get me more excited. Jennifer Lawrence is still nothing like the Katniss that I pictured from the books. She looks far too old and it seems like Katniss had more of a quiet confidence in the books. I mean the scene where she says, "So you're here to make me look pretty" is almost laughable because she's already so damn hot. I don't know, I just hope they can stay true to the books and not venture into the safety net that is the Twilight formula. And although this is an extremely limited look it doesn't quite look like any of the kids will be Oscar bait come awards season.

MOVIES: Ugh

Whelp I finally found a good version of the first official trailer for The Phantom Menace in 3D. I'm kind of hoping that seeing this movie at midnight will mean that me and a ton of other nerds will be booing the movie together. You know, like throwing stuff at the screen when Jar-Jar Binks opens his fat mouth. Or laughing every time Jake Lloyd speaks. Stuff like that would make it so much more of an enjoyable experience. I mean I know I'm going to see the thing anyways; it might as well be to hate the movie with others who share a common hatred.

VIDEO GAMES: Yes, this is another Skyrim video.

Deal with it. This one is a trailer for the documentary "Behind the Wall" that will come with the collector's edition of the game. It gives an in depth look at the process and the people behind creating a game with the scope and magnitude of Skyrim. I wish I had the money for the collector's edition because this video alone seems completely intriguing. I suppose this trailer will have to suffice for now.

MOVIES: I'm now interested in the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

Why? Not because I care in the slightest about Sherlock Holmes but because I care deeply about The Dark Knight Rises. It is rumored that perhaps a second trailer for TDKR will air in front of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows when it hits theaters on December 16th. Also, if you see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in IMAX on a 70mm screen then you will get a substantial prologue to TDKR so I would also highly recommend checking that out. This is now two movies I'll be going to see for the sole purpose of seeing Dark Knight Rises stuff.
