VIDEO GAMES: 2 big release dates hit!

Well I didn't think either of these titles would be coming out until much later this year but release dates have been set for Alan Wake's American Nightmare and I Am Alive!

Alan Wake's American Nightmare comes to Xbox Live on February 22nd.
I Am Alive will be coming to consoles on March 7.

Well both of these games had big reveal trailers at the VGA's last month but I honestly didn't think we'd hear much more about either of them for some time. The fact that they both hit within the next couple of months is very encouraging. I personally didn't play the first Alan Wake so I probably won't check out American Nightmare but I am getting pretty excited for I Am Alive. Will you be playing either of these 2 titles??

VIDEO GAMES: The Battlefield 3 campaign looks meh.

And by meh I mean batsh*t insane. A video was released today that shows a bit of one of the levels in the BF3 campaign titled "Operation Guillotine." That's a comforting title huh? It's times like these I wish I made thousands of dollars writing internet things because these games aren't cheap. My near future of games to be purchased continues to build and my source of income continues to be unchanging. Maybe I'll drive to a casino and put my next paycheck on red...who knows. Anyways, watch the trailer, get more excited for BF3, you know the drill.

VIDEO GAMES: Did you think the MW3 multiplayer video from earlier was cool?

Then check this the frick out! G4 has a freaking awesome video showing some of the BF3 multiplayer and oh my goodness it is going to be the most intense experience ever! However, I am super excited at how different than MW3 it really looks. I mean obviously the two are competitors and the slander between the two companies has gotten a little ridiculous over the past couple months. But we need to realize that these are VERY different games. Battlefield focuses so much more on the vastness of combat. Massive multiplayer maps with heavy vehicle combat gives it perhaps a more realistic feel than Modern Warfare. But Call of Duty focuses on a more refined set of skills pertaining only to ground combat. I'm not trying to say that these two games aren't competitors, only that maybe they can co-exist in a perfect world. I for one will be purchasing both games and I don't really think there's a need to claim an allegiance if both games are going to provide entertainment. I mean isn't that what it's all about? If the game is entertaining then who freaking cares?

PAX: Oh hello there final Gears 3 multiplayer map!

Gridlock is a place we've seen before in Gears 1 and 2 and we'll get to see it once again in Gears 3 featuring new weapons and a nighttime backdrop. That's really all the news about it. Look for Gears 3 on shelves September 9...oh man I just realized how close that is!

VIDEO GAMES: What we know about CS:GO

So the other day Valve announced that they're going to release their newest Counter Strike game titled, Counter Strike: Global Offensive in early 2012. We also now have some information on the game via G4.

Here's the things I think are most important:
 - Some of our favorite old maps are returning i.e. Dust, Dust2, Inferno, Nuke, etc.
 - A greater variation of weaponry with differentiated effects depending on the type of weapon used.
 - This is cool, "Decoy Grenades" can be thrown to emit gun sounds and the like in order to confuse enemies.

There's more information in the full story which you can read HERE
Still no official release date for CS:GO other than early 2012.

VIDEO GAMES: Nothing interesting happened today.

Like seriously, no news at all...but G4TV has a video with a nice look at the combat in the upcoming (sometime) Guild Wars 2. From what we've seen so far I think the game looks fantastic. The first Guild Wars looked, and to be honest, still looks beautiful and by the end of playing it I thought that was one of the few aspects that I liked better than WoW. Guild Wars 2 looks like it will build on those already impressive graphics while adding a ton of other cool stuff to set it apart from other MMOs. Obviously the best thing going for it is the lack of monthly payments; you buy it, you own it...end of story. Also, regardless of what class you role it sounds like everyone will be able to choose how they help the group at least to some degree. I'm sure certain classes will be better suited for dealing damage, tanking, healing, etc. but it sounds like you won't be stuck with one of those no matter what. Still no release date for GW2 but I hope it gets announced soon because it sounds like it could be a massive success for the creative minds at ArenaNet...here's hoping.
