MOVIES: The Avengers to be dubbed Captain America 2.

Just kidding. But when Joss Whedon set out to make The Avengers he obviously had to deal with the issue that The Avengers don't technically have a MAIN character but for a movie to work the audience does need one central character to keep them grounded in the story. According to an article by Collider, Whedon has stated that the "main" character in The Avengers will be Captain America. I'm not sure I would have it any other way as I think it will be great to not only see the formation of The Avengers through his eyes but also his continued discovery of what the world is like today. It will be interesting though to see how Whedon walks the line between giving him too much alone time on screen or not. Obviously we want to see as much of the whole group as humanly possible. Here's the statement from Whedon:
I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about.  So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird ass world. Everyone else has been living in it.
