VIDEO GAMES: The time has come.

For you to choose your side! Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3?!?! It's one or the other, there is no middle ground! Actually there totally is and it's probably where I'll end up. But regardless tonight at midnight Battlefield 3 hits shelves and fires the first shot in the retail war between the two "competitors." I won't be getting the game tonight as my current funds are already set aside for Skyrim, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, etc. but I might get BF3 for PC come Christmas time. Will you be lining up outside the game stores tonight? It's bound to be a big crowd! Oh and by the way, BF3 has received a 9.0 from IGN, 9.5 from GameInformer and 4.5 stars from Joystiq so it's probably pretty stinkin fun.

VIDEO GAMES: The BF3 beta leave you less than impressed?

Yea, me too. But IGN promises that the game waiting just over 2 weeks away is more like the Battlefield that people love. Check out the video to see footage of two maps that await once the whole game is released. They definitely look sweet and I cannot wait to fly a freaking jet!

VIDEO GAMES: It's a BF3 kind of day.

Don't ya think? With the awesome beta being live and anticipation being higher than ever I think it's a good day to check out awesome Battlefield 3 stuffs. The most recent of which being an awesome video from IGN showing some jet combat on the map Caspian Border. I mean, holy nuts if this doesn't get you excited for the game then I don't know why you're playing video games at all. I can almost guarantee the jet is going to be insanely hard to fly but it looks like if you get a hang of it you can be the ultimate badass. I have a feeling the first time I take off I'm just going to fly around aimlessly for about ten minutes and hope that someone who knows what they're doing doesn't spot me. Ok, watch the video. Now.

VIDEO GAMES: War can be beautiful.

And it is just that in the very limited but very awesome Battlefield 3 beta. As you should know by now the Battlefield 3 open beta went live yesterday for everybody and although I wasn't able to connect because of the EA servers being absolutely wrecked by probably a billion people I finally got on it today. Even though I'm playing on a 360 so the graphics aren't as impressive as when the game is on the PC, it is still amazing. The detail of the environments is incredible and the fact that so many aspects of each map are destructible makes it really feel like you're in the middle of heated combat. It all comes down to the little things they've done for BF3. The glint from a sniper's scope that alerts you to his presence, a tree falling in the distance, the non-pixelated smoke in a game for once and so much more make BF3 an intense experience. I still haven't played it very long and I'm still getting used to it but I've had a chance to try out a good amount of the weapons and they have all pros and cons which don't take too long to figure out. Needless to say that the beta sold me on the game in the first five minutes and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting Battlefield on its release day now. That's October 25th for those of you who didn't know. I'd love to say more but I want to go play. The beta is open to anyone so fire up your PC/PS3/XBOX 360, download it, and join me! Later!

VIDEO GAMES: The Battlefield 3 beta looks purdy.

IGN has posted a number of videos showing the beta version of Battlefield 3 which launches for everyone tomorrow. The one level available is called Operation Metro and the video shows more than 15 minutes of gameplay stuffs. I'm excited to finally get hands on with the game and see how it actually plays. From the video, which shows the computer version, it looks extremely crisp and the level of detail is awesome. There's one point where a tree fell down and for some reason it got me really excited to play. Anyways, check it out and get excited!

VIDEO GAMES: So it begins.

Today, for the people who pre-ordered Battlefield 3 on PC through Origin or those who purchased the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor (like 3 people) the Battlefield 3 beta is open! If you're one of those people and you haven't gotten your beta key yet, don't fret, the folks over at Battlefield have said that they will be sent out intermittently between 1pm and 3pm central time. For those of you who didn't pre-order through Origin or didn't buy Medal of Honor you'll have to wait 2 whole days for the open beta to begin. The beta will feature only multiplayer and it sounds like only one map as well. The game is set to hit shelves on October 25 and honestly this beta will be a big influence over whether or not I buy it on that day. Will Battlefield 3 live up to the insane hype it's been building? Or will it be one gorgeous misfire?
