MOVIES: Who will be the villain in Star Trek 2?

Benicio Del Toro has dropped out of playing the villain in the much anticipated Star Trek 2. Apparently an agreement could not be met over monetary issues which is a bummer because I thought Del Toro would make an excellent villain in JJ Abrams Trek universe. It probably won't be long before a replacement is named since filming is set to begin in January. There have been quite a few rumors over the last couple of weeks that Khan will be the villain in Trek 2. This would no doubt be awesome as Khan is perhaps the most notorious villain from the Star Trek saga. I have no doubt that Abrams won't settle on whoever he selects to play the baddie as his love for sci-fi and cinema always seem to show in his work. I'm pumped for Star Trek 2 and can't wait to see who ends up playing the villain!

MOVIES: Surprise! JJ Abrams is directing Star Trek 2!

Because, you know, after Star Trek was so widely accepted both by Trekkies and non Trekkies alike, JJ Abrams openly declared his deep love for sci-fi, and the first movie established a set of characters we were all invested in and wanted to see more of, we weren't sure if Abrams would be down for a second one. Well worry no longer Trek fans, EW is reporting that JJ will indeed be returning as the helmsman for Star Trek 2. No word on when we can expect to see the film since Abrams and co. are spending time working on the script to make sure it's up to scratch. I shall wait patiently and have extremely high expectations when the sequel does find its way to theaters.
